How clients agree to text messages
Last updated September 23, 2026
FreshStart Resources Inc is a 501(c)(3) Biblical counseling ministry in Middle Tennessee. We send appointment text messages from our appointment reminder number, (629) 777-5031, only to counseling clients who have given us permission. We never buy, rent or share mobile numbers, and we never send advertising.
This page shows exactly how that permission is given, in the words clients see and hear.
There are two ways, and only two
On our online intake form. New clients fill in a short intake form on their phone or computer before their first appointment. After their name and mobile number, the form shows the permission section reproduced below. The box starts empty and is optional. We save the client's answer with the date and the exact wording they agreed to.
By saying yes to our office. An existing client may ask our office to text them, in person or by telephone. Our staff read the wording below aloud, and only if the client says yes do they record it, with the date, on that client's record in our scheduling system.
There is no other route. We do not add a number from a referral, a form filled in by somebody else, a purchased list, or a call we were not asked to return by text.

This is how it appears on the live form:
Text messages from FreshStart Resources (optional)
Yes. FreshStart Resources may send me text messages at the mobile number above about my appointments: reminders, requests to confirm, and changes to my schedule.
Message frequency varies, usually one to three messages for each appointment. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages, or reply HELP for help. Agreeing to text messages is not required to receive counseling or any other service from FreshStart Resources.
This is a picture of the form, so the box above cannot be ticked. To try the real one, open the online intake form.
A client who leaves the box empty receives no text messages. Their counseling is unaffected.
The wording our office reads aloud
When a client asks us to text them, or asks what texting involves, our staff read this:
“May we send you text messages about your appointments, that is reminders, requests to confirm, and changes to your schedule? They come from our appointment reminder number, (629) 777-5031. Message frequency varies, usually one to three messages for each appointment. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to stop them, or HELP for help. It is entirely optional and it does not affect your counseling in any way.”
We only record permission when the client answers yes.
What a client receives
- Appointment reminders, requests to confirm an appointment, and schedule changes.
- Replies to questions the client texts us.
- Nothing else. No advertising, no fundraising, no third party messages.

Stopping, and getting help
- Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving text messages from us. One message confirms that you are unsubscribed, and nothing further is sent.
- Reply HELP for help. You may also email freshstartresource@gmail.com or call our office on (615) 822-6772.
- A client may also simply ask our office to stop texting them, and we remove their permission.
